The Rugged Rogaine Series is an event that allows participants to traverse the picturesque landscapes of the Waikato countryside, engage in an adventure sport, develop map reading and navigation skills and enhance their physical fitness levels. The series culminates with its fourth event on 4 May 2025, located in Whatawhata.
The event involves a rogaine, a form of orienteering, which entails foot navigation through forestry and farmland. Participants or teams are tasked with discovering as many controls as possible within a fixed timeframe. Participants receive a rogaine map to guide them. The shorter duration event can be undertaken individually, while the longer event requires team participation (between 2 and 5 members, with categories including Men, Women, Mixed, and Junior).
The event is organised by Orienteering Waikato and forms part of the Rugged Rogaine Series. The previous event in the series took place on 6 April 2025.
