The EVES Huntly Half Marathon, scheduled for 18 May 2025, is recognized as New Zealand’s oldest standalone half marathon, having begun in 1981. This long-standing event takes place in Huntly, a town situated along the scenic Waikato River.
The half marathon features a flat, fast out-and-back course entirely on sealed roads, ensuring a smooth running experience. Participants in the 10km event will encounter a diverse terrain that includes both gravel trails and scenic views around Lake Puketirini, contributing to a varied running experience. The 5km course also incorporates sections along the lake, allowing runners to enjoy the natural surroundings.
In addition to the main events, there will be a children’s 2km race, fostering early engagement in running for younger participants. The event is organized by Run NZ, and while specific post-race amenities and activities are yet to be confirmed, participants can typically expect a supportive atmosphere and community engagement. Further details will be provided as the event date approaches.
