The Gorge Adventure Race

The VetSouth Gorge Adventure Race takes place in the scenic Lora Gorge, utilizing the surrounding farmland which adds a rugged and natural element to the course. This event is designed for teams of 2-4 members, emphasizing teamwork and navigation skills. Participants must strategically locate various control points, each carrying different point values, across the designated time limits. Points are deducted for late returns, adding a strategic element to the race.

Offering multiple race durations, the event caters to a range of fitness and experience levels. Options include shorter treks designed for families, as well as more challenging six-hour combinations of trekking and mountain biking, demanding greater endurance and versatility.

Culturally, this event is deeply integrated with the local community, as it serves as a fundraiser for several local organizations, including educational and sports groups in Central Southland.
