A notable highlight is the standalone trail run, which showcases a newly established route that offers nearly uninterrupted views of Lyttelton Harbour. This course connects to the Crater Rim track, providing a blend of natural beauty and challenging terrain. Teams of two can tackle the trail run, with the first leg leading to Godley Head and the second continuing to Scarborough.
