Hātea Run Night Series: The Spooky Chase

The Hātea Run Night Series is a winter event, beginning with the Spooky Chase on 18 June 2025. The races are organized in various locations around Whangarei.

The races are conducted as handicap events, taking place on the trails of Parihaka’s eastern side. In these events, the slower participants are given a head start, with the faster competitors following.

One unique aspect of these races is that they all take place in the dark, making a headlight or torch a necessary part of the runner’s gear. Without a light, participants are unable to run.
