The 3 Peaks Mountain Race in Dunedin is scheduled for 30 March 2025. This endurance trail run, managed by the Leith Harrier & Athletic Club, offers a distinctive experience of Dunedin’s varied landscapes.
The race is named after Dunedin’s three notable peaks – Flagstaff, Swampy, and Mt Cargill. Participants will traverse scenic trails through lush native bush and forestry. The journey offers panoramic views of the surrounding area, serving as a reward for the challenging ascents.
In addition to the three peaks, a longer course includes Pulpit Rock, one of the highest points in the Silverpeaks. This route provides runners with additional terrain and trail variety. Notably, this longer course also hosts the NZ short course trail running championships.
An alternative course offers a shorter trail, focusing solely on the summit of Mount Cargill. This route provides a more concentrated experience of Dunedin’s natural beauty.
The 3 Peaks Mountain Race provides a range of courses to accommodate different endurance levels and preferences, each offering a unique exploration of Dunedin’s peaks and trails.
